Life Reflection

 

             William better known as “ Mr. Green Jeans”        Alexander was born and raised in Madison County on November 2, 1930, to the late Jimmie Alexander and the late Mary Thomas.  William was the oldest of 10 children.

             William accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Rocky Springs Missionary Baptist Church  where he attended until his health failed him.

On July 31, 1949, William married Nellie Mae     Williams.  William and Nellie had eight children.  William was preceded in death by his wife Nellie Mae; four children, Willie Alexander, Mary Lee Alexander, Billie James Alexander and an unnamed daughter; four brothers, James Alexander, T.J. Alexander, Jimmie Alexander and Albert Alexander; a son-in-law Dennis Dixon and a sister-in law Yvonne Alexander.

William worked in the log woods for 20 years.  He retired after working 10 years for Goldkist.  Gardening      became his passion and he sold his home-grown vegetables to the locals, thus earning him the nickname of “Mr. Green Jeans”.

  William heavenly exit transitioned him from the earthly realm on Sunday, April 19, 2020, at the age of 89.

William will be missed and is survived by his sons William (Ursula) Alexander, Denton, Texas, John (Linda) Alexander, Gainesville, Florida, and John Lee Alexander of Madison, Florida; one daughter, Mary Alexander Dixon of Madison, Florida; 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren; brothers Nathaniel (Luneal) Alexander, Eddie Alexander, Willie (Ola) Alexander and B.J. Alexander all of Madison, Florida; a sister Mary (Eddie) Luster, also of Madison, Florida. Sister-in-laws Ellen Roberts of Savannah, Ga., Juanita Mincey of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Lorne  Alexander of Madison, Florida; also numerous nieces,  nephews, other relatives and friends.
