Ollie Wall Obituary

OLLIE M. WALL (1945-2019)

Ollie Mae Donaldson, the youngest daughter of 11 children, was born to the late Oliver Donaldson, Sr. and Audrey Brown Donaldson in January 5, 1945 in Madison, Florida.

She graduated with an A.A. degree in Accounting in 1964 from Suwanee River Junior College (now merged with North Florida Junior College) and went on to Florida A&M University where she received a B.S. in Business Administration and Accounting in 1967 and Tuskegee University where she received an M.S. degree in Adult Education.

In her first year at Florida A&M University, she met Henry Grady Wall Jr whom she married in 1967.  They shared and enjoyed life together for 52 years.   She raised two children and pursued dual careers in accounting and teaching business education, as she moved around the country as a military spouse. She retired from the Raleigh Housing Authority in 2009 to devote time to spoiling her dogs, walking, cross-stitching, crocheting, and quilting.  She sewed over 200 quilts for charities, like the local chapter of Quilts for Kids (providing quilts to hospitalized children).

Ollie was baptized and joined Jeslamb A.M.E. Church, her family’s church, in Madison at an early age.  She maintained membership at Jeslamb A.M.E Church but attended local churches in the different communities where she lived until 2005 when she became a full-time member at Raleigh Vineyard Church in Raleigh, NC where she was an avid church attendee and served on the church’s Finance Team.

Ollie departed this earthly life on December 31, 2019. Ollie was preceded in death by two sisters, Theora Donaldson Nickson and Julia Donaldson; and seven brothers: Oliver Donaldson Jr., Rufus Donaldson, Clarence Donaldson, Chandler Donaldson, Enoch Donaldson, Joseph Donaldson Sr., and Dr. James Donaldson.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, Henry Grady Wall Jr of Wake Forest, NC; daughter, Maria Wall of Raleigh, NC; son, Stanley Wall of Washington, DC; one brother, Albert Donaldson of Madison, FL; four sisters-in-law, Louise Donaldson and Dorothy Jean Donaldson of Wilmington, DE; and  Eula Donaldson and  Josephine Donaldson of Madison, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations in Ollie’s memory to:
