Life Reflection
Major Gazzara Pernell King was born May 15, 1966 in Madison, Florida to a loving mother, Mrs. Deansie Edwards King.
He attended school in Madison County and was a baptized
member of Saint James Missionary Baptist Church.
“Pernell” as everyone called him joined the United States Army after graduating from High School and proudly served his country for almost ten years before earning an Honorable Discharge.
While serving in the Army, he was joined in Holy Matrimony to Mrs. Toya Monique Brown-King. After his service he relocated his family back to his childhood home in Madison, Florida.
Pernell was a dedicated employee of the Florida Department of Corrections for almost twenty-six years. He was Captain at the Madison Correctional Institution in Madison, Florida and was promoted to the rank of “Major” at Lancaster Correctional Institution where he remained until his untimely death.
Pernell was a hard working and dedicated husband, father, son, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, friend and co-worker to many and loved and cherished his work family almost as much as his “God Given Family”…….He was loved by everyone he came in contact with and was known for his unforgettable “smile”…….
Pernell was called home on May 17, 2020 to serve the Lord. He was preceded in death by his maternal sister, Ms. Gloria Tillman and brother Demetrius Gillyard of Madison, FL.
