Rosa Mae James was born on August 6, 1934 to the union of Coot and Maude “Ross” Givens, in Quitman, Georgia. She was a lifetime resident of Madison, Florida. She was the youngest of six siblings.
She received her education in the public school system of Madison, Florida and the Word of God from the Holy Bible. Her degree was in the word of God. You would often see her sitting in her rocker on the front porch reading her Bible in the early mornings.
As a young woman, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. She joined Rocky Spring M.B. Church of Madison and later Beulah Star Church of God in Unity of Madison. As her relationship grew stronger with the Heavenly Father, she became an Evangelist later an assistant pastor for Faith of Deliverance Church. She further served as the pastor in Tifton, Georgia and later the pastor of Faith if Deliverance Church of Madison, Florida. She had service in her home, streets and Nursing Homes. When her health declined, she continued to keep the faith. She was a strong and bold soldier.
She was a homemaker and seamstress, included making beautiful hats.
On October 7, 2019 at the age of eighty-five at Madison Health and Rehabilitation Center, our Heavenly Father called for His child to take her place, while under the care of the nursing staff, Hospice, Inc. and Senior Citizens Council of Madison County, Inc. John 14:1 “Do not let your heart be troubled. You believe in God: believe also in men. She preceded in death by her parents Coot and Maude “ Ross” Givens, Sisters Verneva Givens and Ida Mae Jordan, Brothers Samuel Weatherspoon, Theodore and Johnnie Fenlayson; Sons Jerome and Ronnie L. Jackson and one grandchild Nita Jackson.
She was married to the late Ronnie L. Jackson, to this union six children: Rosa Richardson and Gloria Monts of Madison, FL., Vivian D. Wright (William) of Orlando Florida, Juakita Jackson of Philadelphia, PA. She later married Samuel James, to this union three children: Samuel James (Pearlie Mae) daughter n law , of Greenville, Florida, Michael James of Tallahassee, Florida and Maurice James (Cynthia) of Greenville, Florida; sister-in-law Lillie R. Anderson of Crescent City, FL., and a host of grandchildren, great grands, nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends who loved her dearly.
